Paul Meintjies Super Star (not!)

You really must read Michelle's great post on Paul Meintjies a.k.a the third coming. An excerpt:

In the meantime the mortician was getting a bit antsy about having this dead guy taking up his shelf-space and starting to decompose, so started charging the family R1,000 a day to house the body. Paul's sister wasn't on the Resurrection Team, and had pleaded for the family to just go bury him, but was met with stony resistance.
I seem to have missed this story, but I'm glad I did, Michelle's commentary is perfect. If that poor bastard does rise again, he better be able to hold his breath really well.

His life assurer has apparently adopted a "wait and see" attitude...!

And here is why he was buried so quickly after so long (from Mail & Guardian):

"The late Paul Meintjes whom a prophet had predicted would rise from the dead must be buried by Saturday, according to an order delivered by police to his family in the Free State town of Hertzogville on Thursday.

Free State police spokesperson Captain Sam Makhele said the family had 36 hours to respond to the order, failing which the police mortuary would apply for an order to bury the body.

Thursday evening's order -- delivered at 5.30pm -- follows a decision by investigators from the Health Department who fear that the body poses a health threat. - Sapa"

Oops, the "juicy" bit didn't make it...

On Wednesday his widow took delivery of Meintje's 50-day-old corpse and has since kept it in a coffin beside her bed.

There would actually be quite a lot of juicy bits, as it's the fluid in the body that starts the decomposition process. Everything kinda gets squishy after that.
